In the Beginning
The head honcho is an ex-chef who asked on day “if I leave my job, what should I do?” to which the fateful last words were uttered... “why don’t you try Sticky Balsamic?”. He had made a variety in the past for dishes he created and thought people may use Sticky Balsamic at home.
Making Sticky Balsamic
So, in 2013 we hired a commercial kitchen at night (where chefs are trained) and made 5 varieties (we soon added a 6th). Labelling and boxing them happened in the lounge room at night after finishing work. We then tried our luck at the Lorne Easter Market, and the feedback was fantastic. This gave us the push to see if any stores would be interested in Sticky Balsamic.
Thankfully our local community is incredibly supportive of local businesses (we hope this is the case right around the country!) and so we started selling into shops as well as continuing with Farmers’ Markets, craft markets and other events to get the word out...
And Then...
Fast forward to a few years later, we no longer make it at night (thank goodness!). But we always make it ourselves 😀 We will never outsource so that we can continue to have our own quality control, ensuring only the best product is made, which has resulted in over 100 medals and awards given to Sticky Balsamic!
Sticky Balsamic remains a regional Victorian family business and continues to grow and innovate, having recently introduced the Pearls for which we have been provided heaps of incredible feedback. We continue to be present at at both large and small events, and plan on doing this for a long time so that we can speak directly with people like you who give us the greatest information and feedback.
