Sweet & Salty Butter Board Recipe with Sticky Balsamic Pearls

Butter boards are having a moment for a reason: they’re fast, fun, and they make even a casual get-together feel like you planned it. This sweet-and-salty version of the butter board recipe is my favourite shortcut for “hostess with the mostest” energy — whipped butter swirled onto a board, topped with strawberries, figs, dark chocolate, pistachios, honeycomb, and finished with Sticky Balsamic Pearls for that glossy, restaurant-style wow.

Ingredients

  • 250 g salted butter, softened
  • 1–2 tbsp honey (plus extra to drizzle)
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (optional, for extra gloss)
  • 1 tsp flaky sea salt (plus extra to finish)
  • 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced
  • 3–4 fresh figs, quartered
  • 60–80 g dark chocolate, broken into shards
  • 1/3 cup pistachios (some whole, some roughly chopped)
  • 1 small piece honeycomb (optional)
  • 2–3 tbsp Sticky Balsamic Pearls (plus a little of the fluid)
  • To serve: warm sourdough, baguette slices, crackers

 

Method

 

 

  • Whip the butter: Add softened butter to a bowl. Whip with honey (and olive oil if using) until light and fluffy.
  • Spread it out: Smear the butter onto a board or platter in swoops. Leave it a little messy—texture looks more gourmet.
  • Add the toppings: Scatter strawberries, figs, chocolate shards, and pistachios over the butter.
  • Drizzle + finish: Drizzle with honey. Sprinkle flaky salt and cracked pepper.
  • Pearl it: Spoon Sticky Balsamic Pearls over the top (on the fruit and chocolate). Let some of the pearls fluid pool and streak through the butter for that glossy restaurant finish.
  • Serve: Add warm bread / crackers around the board and serve immediately.

 

 

Tips (So It Looks Expensive)

 

 

  • Add pearls last.
  • Keep toppings clustered (not evenly sprinkled) for a styled look.
  • Use a small spoon to create a couple of intentional swipe marks through the butter.

 

Serving Notes

Best served right away while the butter is soft. If it’s warm, pop the board in the fridge for 10 minutes before serving.
